SANTIAGO — She resides in Los Angeles and Miami, and has danced alongside Britney Spears, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna, in the Glee series and now in the 14 Oscars nominated film, La La Land.
She is Catalina Rendic, a young Chilean daughter of the showoman Maitén Montenegro, who is part of the 100 selected dancers for this musical connotado.
Catalina went to live in the United States when she was only five years old with her parents. At 9, she started taking dance and acting classes, although she was only in her teenage when she decided that she wanted to dedicate herself to the dance professionally.
“I saw Britney Spears and I was so impressed. I knew my dream was to dance,” the 28-year-old said.
And the girl not only danced with Britney Spears on some of her tours. She also participated in the video for “Circus” eight years ago and accompanied the pop princess in several stages.
This is how she began to build a famous career in dance, appearing in hundreds of videos of outstanding musicians who usually take over the top places like Gwen Stefani, Prince Roice, Iggy Azalea, among many more.
However, this time Catalina, who is also a choreographer, went from the stage and video clips to the big screen to be part of La La Land. Her mother, Maitén Montenegro says that her daughter was chosen from among the 100 dancers in Los Angeles.
“I feel proud. Cata always gives me these great surprises. She is hard-working, very discreet, generous and grateful to the choreographers and people she works with. So I have a lot of ‘chochería’ and I am happy above all now, that the film is nominated for both Oscar,” the proud mum added.
In addition to her instagram account, Catalina has a Youtube channel, where she shares some of her choreography.
