SANTIAGO – The governing body of Chile’s Rugby League – the Futbol A 13 Chile – has taken the ambitious step to launch a national club competition, Super Liga 13, leveraging the growing interest of the sport in the Bio Bio and Araucanía regions.
The competition is set to feature six clubs including the Negrete Marimán, Angol Toros, Nacimiento Awkan, Yumbel Maquinarias and two clubs from the city of Los Angeles, the Dragones and Longkos, with the Marimán set to go into the competition as favorites following their strong performances in the lead up tournaments to the Super Liga 13.
The Super Liga 13 competition will operate in addition to the Festivals and inter-city friendly matches run by the Futbol A 13 Chile, to provide an opportunity for clubs like Newen Cabrero, Mulchen Moluches and the Talcahuano Rabbitohs plus the Columbian and Peruvian teams from Antofagasta to continue to develop and potentially join future seasons.
Fixtures for the inaugural Futbol A 13 Chile Super Liga will be announced in the coming weeks.
