Strukton International has won a €46m contract from Metro de Santiago for construction of five underground stations (package group 1 and 2) at Line 3 in Santiago, Chile.
Line 3 is one of the new metro lines that are under construction in Santiago.
The company is part of a joint venture with Arrigoni Engineering & Construction, and plans to deliver the underground stations within 22 months.
Strukton International managing director Bert Hoekstra said: “This project is therefore expected to be a firm base for further expanding the activities of Strukton International in Latin America and the rail/metro related business in general.”
“The 21.7km Santiago Metro Line 3 will connect the residential area of Huechuraba north of the city with the city centre and have 22 stations.”
Package group one and two will involve construction of five ventilation shafts and Los Libertadores, Cardenal Caro, Vivaceta, Conchali, and Plaza Chachabuco underground stations.
Works to be carried out include civil, structural, architectural and mechanical, electrical and plumbing (MEP).
The 21.7km Santiago Metro Line 3 will connect the residential area of Huechuraba north of the city with the city centre and have 22 stations.
The first stage is slated for completion by next year, with the whole line finished by 2020.
Initially, Line 3 was planned for construction after Lines 1 and 2 but due to the 1985 Algarrobo earthquake near Santiago, work on the line was postponed so that the resources could be used to rebuild the damage caused by the earthquake.
