LAGO RANCO – The Red Bull Cliff Diving Series held its final competition this year at Chile’s Lago Ranco on Oct 21, where the Rininahue waterfalls at the foothills of the Andes mountains formed a stunning backdrop to the competition.
Mexico’s Jonathan Paredes wins Red Bull Cliff Diving 2017 title in Chile
The championship title went to Mexico’s Jonathan Paredes while Australia’s Rhiannan Iffland won the women’s title.
Jonathan, 28, who hails from Mexico City, nailed his fourth and final dive to raise his World Series total to 720 points and take home the 2017 King Kahekili trophy.
Six-time champion Gary Hunt, from Britain, ended the 2017 season with 710 points while fellow Briton Blake Aldridge finished third overall with 580.
On the women’s side Australian Rhiannan Iffland defended her crown to win her second title at the iconic waterfall setting in Lago Ranco.
Iffland overcame injury to finish the season with 890 points overall, 150 points ahead of her countrywoman and second place finisher Helena Merten. Mexico’s Adriana Jimenez finished third with 690 points.
