Santiago – El gobierno canadiense anunció que destinará un monto de CAD$ 35.000 para construir viviendas progresivas en las regiones VI y VII, a fin de ayudar a familias cuyas casas han sido destruidas por los incendios forestales.
Esta ayuda humanitaria se entregará a “TECHO Chile” a fin de construir viviendas en las localidades de Paredones (VI región) y Hualañé (VII región), zonas devastadas por el fuego y donde decenas de familias han quedado sin hogar.
La contribución canadiense permitirá entregar un refugio seguro y digno a familias – de entre 4 a 8 personas – para sentar las bases de una reconstrucción sostenible de sus hogares.
“TECHO Chile” está en terreno preparando la construcción de estas viviendas progresivas – una vez que el fuego logre ser extinguido (más detalles en página web www.techo.org/chile).
Por su parte, la Ministra de Asuntos Exteriores de Canadá, Chrystia Freeland, expresó su solidaridad al Ministro de RR.EE., Heraldo Muñoz, ante la pérdida de vidas y los daños materiales causados por la dramática situación de los actuales incendios forestales.
La donación a “TECHO Chile” se hará posible a través del Fondo Canadá para Iniciativas Locales (FCIL) que administra la Embajada de Canadá en Chile. Adicionalmente, muchas empresas canadienses con presencia en Chile están participando activamente en el apoyo a los esfuerzos de respuesta ante esta emergencia.
Desde hace varios años, Canadá y Chile colaboran estrechamente en iniciativas de prevención de situaciones de emergencia y de respuesta ante desastres naturales tales como incendios forestales, terremotos, inundaciones y tsunamis.
Por ejemplo, la Embajada ha colaborado con ONEMI traduciendo sus folletos preventivos al inglés y francés, para así difundir información a turistas y extranjeros en sus idiomas, que les ayude a estar mejor preparados para enfrentar desastres naturales en Chile.
