Chile registered 922 new cases of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in the past 24 hours, marking the first time since May that the number of new daily cases has been under 1,000, Health Minister Enrique Paris said on Tuesday.
“The new daily cases total 922. It is an important sign, but also a call for citizens to continue taking care of themselves and not let down their guard in the fight against the coronavirus,” Paris said in a statement.
The figure is the lowest since May 4, when tests detected 980 new cases of infection in one day.
In the last 24 hours, meanwhile, 23 more patients died of COVID-19, raising the death toll to 14,026.
