SANTIAGO – A branch of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Argentine Republic has been established in Chile’s capital city, which is going to be the country’s first diplomatic mission in the South American country.
The opening ceremony took place on Saturday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine posted on Facebook on Monday.
A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Chile, Mario Luis Silva, while opening the ceremony, emphasized that the establishment of the Ukrainian diplomatic mission is a significant step in the development of bilateral relations between Ukraine and Chile, as it is expected to provide a new impetus to cooperation in all areas.
On the occasion, Deputy Foreign Minister of Ukraine Serhiy Kyslytsya said he believes the newly established Ukrainian institution will facilitate deeper cooperation between the countries.
The Ukrainian official expressed gratitude to the Republic of Chile for “supporting the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine amid the Russian aggression in the east of the country”.
Chile currently remains being represented in Ukraine through its embassy in Moscow and an honorary consulate in Kyiv.
