LIMA – Peru’s all-time leading goal-scorer Paolo Guerrero will lead the South American side, overcoming an injury scare to be included in the squad for next month’s World Cup qualifiers against the All Whites.
The star striker and captain left the field in the 66th minute of Flamengo’s 4-1 win over Bahia in the Brazilian Serie A on Friday (NZT), with apparent discomfort in his left hamstring.
The 33-year-old was seen during the match grabbing at the back of his left leg, and was ultimately subbed off in the second half of the match. Later, he underwent scans to determine the extent of the injury.
