LA SERENA – Chilean President Michelle Bachelet cut the ribbon on a new hospital in the Salamanca municipality, in Coquimbo region (IV), and the new dependencies of an educational establishment in the commune of Canela on Monday.
The hospital had been in operation since July; however the work was stopped in 2014 after the construction company went bankrupt.

The new hospital will benefit more than 25 thousand users of the public system, according to BioBio.

Later, in Canela, with a tribute to Violeta Parra, the president inaugurated the new building of the Héctor Jorquera Valencia Basic School, which includes more than three thousand square meters.
The project contemplates an investment of US$5 billion, mostly from the regional government. The projected enrollment is 585 students and currently has 481, 440 in basic education and 41 in pre-basic.
