NEW DELHI – Former Argentinean soccer player Diego Armando Maradona confirmed today that he will visit the Indian city of Calcutta in September, one of the headquarters of the U-17 Men”s World Soccer Championship planned in this country from October 6 to 28.
‘I want to tell you that in September I will be visiting Calcutta again’, noted Maradona in the Facebook social network.
The Naples Italian club’s ex-attacker will participate in a charity soccer match in which he will face a team where will be the great ex- cricket player, Sourav Ganguly, reported organizers of the event.
‘It is an honor for me to be able to make this trip. Calcutta is a very special place and I have very good memories of my last visit, almost 10 years ago, the fans were fantastic’, added the South American ex-star.
Maradona, who was received as a hero on a visit to this city in 2008, will also receive an award for his career.
India is a nation very passionate about football. ‘I hope to meet a whole new generation, and to be able to transmit the love I feel for this beautiful sport’, concluded Maradona.
