BUENOS AIRES – Argentina has legalized medical marijuana after the Senate greenlit the project yesterday.
The legislation also creates a research program in the government that must “guarantee free access” to cannabis oil and other extracts to patients who join the program.

Argentina is the fourth country in South America to legalize medical marijuana. Others who have lifted restrictions on the plant are Colombia, Chile and Uruguay.
The oil extract of the plant will be imported from the United States.
