Vatican City — Pope Francis may visit Chile and Peru in 2018, Chilean Church authorities revealed following a meeting with His Holiness.
“He [Pope Francis] himself has started to assess a new possibility, which would mean crafting a Peru-Chile trip,” Bishop Galo Fernandez said.
“The Pope wants to visit Chile, the Pope wants to confirm the faith of Chile’s Church, and also pay a tribute of closeness and attention to the entire Chilean people […],” Cardinal Ricardo Ezzati expressed according to a press release.
His Holiness is expected to once again meet with Chilean priests this Thursday. On that date, he may reveal further details of his intended visit to the South American countries.
