The emblematic ship Rainbow Warrior of the ecologist organization Greenpeace will reach Chile today to explore southern seas and ecosystems.
The ship will reach the port Coquimbo, northern Chile, and will travel across several cities in the country during a month to express support for the global campaign ‘Defend Seas at the End of the World.’
‘The Chilean southern seas are very significant for the rest of the planet because 36 percent of the biodiversity of maritime mammals in the world live there and that is why we have decided to travel to those waters,’ said captain Pepe Barbal.
According to Greenpeace, the campaign was entitled ‘Defend Seas at the End of the World,’ expressing the importance that seas at the Magallanes region have for the world’s ecosystem.
