El Ministro de Relaciones Exteriores, Heraldo Muñoz, se refirió a hoy los ofrecimientos de ayuda internacional para combatir los incendios que ha estado recibiendo Chile. “Hemos estado desde hace días en contacto con distintos Gobiernos de países amigos. Hasta ahora ha habido una reacción muy positiva, de solidaridad, de expresión de apoyo”, afirmó.
Entre los primeros países en ofrecer su ayuda se encuentra Estados Unidos, que entregó su ofrecimiento de US$100 mil para reponer equipos de CONAF. Junto a ello, se espera que esta semana llegue un grupo de líderes de combate de incendios forestales estadounidenses para trabajar directamente con los equipos chilenos. Adicionalmente, informó el Canciller, se ha tenido contacto con el Estado de California para activar el convenio CONAF-CALFIRE.
A ello su suma la ayuda de Argentina, que ya expresó “su disponibilidad de enviar una brigada de cascos blancos para apoyar el trabajo que se está haciendo en terreno”.
El Ministro también informó que el Presidente de Francia, François Hollande, ofreció la ayuda de su país durante su visita oficial a Chile. “Mañana llegarán cuatro líderes expertos en combate de incendios como una avanzada de un apoyo mayor”. Asimismo, México ya manifestó su disposición para enviar 55 brigadistas que apoyarán el trabajo en terreno.
El Canciller agregó que la ONEMI, CONAF y Cancillería han estado en contacto con un “sinnúmero de otros países” para coordinar la entrega de ayuda, entre los que se incluyen Brasil, Uruguay, Canadá y Perú.
