Santiago hosts Pacific Alliance Businesswomen Meeting

SANTIAGO – This week, President Michelle Bachelet inaugurated a two-day meeting of leading businesswomen of Mexico, Colombia, Peru and the hosting nation in the Chilean capital, Santiago.

Baschelet addressed the venue attended by over 300 businesswomen of the member nations of the Pacific Alliance, which includes lectures of specialists of international organizations in the Club Union de Santiago headquarters.

Among key speakers were Maria Nieves Rico, representing the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (Eclac) and Alejandra Villota, expert of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), among others.

Promotion agencies of the Pacific Alliance, ProChile, ProColombia, ProMexico and PromPeru sponsored the meeting of businesswomen which discussed labor participation, employment quality and salaries of women.

According to the Direction of International Economic Relations (Direcon), of the Foreign Ministry, the strategic axles of the meeting were business empowerment and the association as a mechanism to créate synergy.

On October 25, the agenda included business rounds among 50 exporters selected by the promotion agencies, in the field of agrofood, fashion and health industries, as well as handicrafts.
