More than 150 buildings to be demolished in Mexico City

MEXICO CITY – Between 150 and 200 buildings will reportedly be demolished in the Mexican capital due to severe structural damage caused by the earthquake on September 19.

The government of Mexico City has practically ready the first three files of real estate to be demolished in the coming days.

For the demolition of each building a specific and careful procedure will be adopted, as each one will require a particular and specialized work, according to its level of difficulty.

The work will start as the files are completed, so it is feasible that this action is undertaken simultaneously in several buildings.

The capital authorities insisted that not all buildings classified as red will be demolished, as they will be made exhaustive reviews and ‘surely many will turn to yellow’, which means they can be repaired and inhabited.
