Chile announces teams for 2017 World Championships

SANTIAGO – The Paralympic Committee of Chile (CPC) has announced delegations for this year’s athletics, powerlifting and swimming world championships.

London 2012 gold medallist Cristian Valenzuela will spearhead the Chilean five-member team at the World Para Athletics Championships in London, Great Britain, from 14-23 July.

Youth Parapan American champion Amanda Cerna, Paula Guzman and Margarita Faundez will compete in the women´s events, whilst Ignacio Sepulveda and Valenzuela will be the male representatives.

Chile will also send four swimmers and six powerlifters to the 2017 Para Sport Festival, which will feature both the World Para Swimming Championships and World Para Powerlifting Championships in Mexico City, between 30th September-6th October.

Alberto Abarza, Vicente Almonacid, Francisca Castro and Valentina Munoz will be four of around 550 swimmers competing at the Francisco Marquez Olympic Swimming Pool.

At the same time, the Juan de la Barrera Olympic Gymnasium will receive 360 powerlifters from 65 countries, including Chile´s Juan Garrido, Maria Ortiz, Jorge Carinao, Camila Campos, Marion Serrano and Frank Feliu.
