Wheelchair Tennis World Cup: Chile participates in Americas Qualifier

Chile’s Wheelchair Tennis Team is participating in the Americas Zone qualifier of BNP Paribas World Wheelchair Tennis Team Cup at the Quito Tennis and Golf Club, Ecuador.

Chilean Ambassador in Ecuador Gabriel Ascencio met the Chilean delegation of Tennis in Wheelchair, comprising players Jaime Sepúlveda, Alexander Cataldo, Francisco Cayulef and the coach Aldo Sepúlveda, yesterday. Authorities of the Ecuadorian Sports Federation and delegates of the International Tennis Federation (ITF) were also present on the occasion.

The Chilean team that participated in the “Quito Tennis and Golf Club Cup” from March 4 to 7, secured second place in Quads. Carlos Muñoz was placed at second place in the Men category.

The BNP Paribas World Team Cup is the wheelchair tennis equivalent of the Davis Cup and Fed Cup. There are divisions for men, women, quads and a junior event supported by the Cruyff Foundation.

It is held annually with a different nation playing host each year.

This year’s BNP Paribas World Team Cup will be hosted across two venues, Baia di Conte and Alghero Tennis Club, both in Sardinia, Italy, on 1-7 May 2017.

Whereas, the Regional Qualifier for Americas, being held between March 9 and 11, in Sicily, Italy, will be played between Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Ecuador and the United States.
