Chilean police lieutenant Daniela Rickemberg has secured first place in the 10k Checkers category of the International Athletic Police Competition Heroes of Peace held in Ecuador.

Another Chilean athlete Omar Ceballos was placed second in the Men category.

This year, the 13th edition of the competition, which was organized by Ecuadorian National Police to celebrate their 79th anniversary, saw participation of athletes from Chile, Argentina, Peru, Mexico, Panama and Ecuador.

The competition got even tougher and more demanding for the delegation of Carabineros de Chile, or Chilean national police force, who had very few days to acclimatize to the height of Quito, which is at 2,800 meters above sea level.

Ambassador Gabriel Ascencio received in his office the two athletes, who were accompanied by the Aggregate of Carabineros, Colonel Jaime Alvarado.

The Chilean envoy in Ecuador, on the occasion, congratulated Daniela Rickemberg for the efforts made in the very demanding competition held in one of the highest capitals of the world.
