During this time of goodwill and blessings to each other, I write this letter out of concern and love for my younger sister.
What should have been a wonderful reunion after many years between my sister Anita van Wyk (from New Zealand), my 82-year old mother (from South Africa) and my sister’s son Pieter (from Brazil), is now an extremely disappointing experience.
When my sister and mother arrived in Santiago from New Zealand on Saturday, Anita learned that her luggage was misplaced.
She went to the airport again yesterday (Monday) but nobody seems to know what happened to her bag/s.
Now, for a perfectionistic, beautiful and very neat woman to enjoy her holiday without any change of clothes, make-up or hair-magic- doers, is impossible. Also, I assume that bag of hers was packed with gifts for her child and two grandchildren that she has never seen before.
When I WhatsApped Anita yesterday late afternoon, the three of them were so disheartened, they were just sitting around in the hotelroom, not even feeling like going out to explore the city.
Surely it also will be my elderly mom’s first and last time that she visits Chilé and see her grandson (and babies). A lot has been spoiled by the negligence of my sister’s luggage.
Is Chilé then also 3rd World?
