Five Foreigners Lost At Sea After Chile’s Tsunami

Boat carrying four Canadians and one Australian has been missing off Chile’s coast for 15 days

Navy and maritime authorities are still searching for a 12-meter-long sailboat carrying at least five foreign nationals, but fear it was caught up in the tsunami following Chile’s epic earthquake on February 27.

The SS Columbia left Las Salinas, Ecuador, on January 16 destined to arrive in Coquimbo, Chile, on March 6, according to the Chilean Navy. Shipping authorities in Chile told relatives the Columbia crew planned to visit the Galapagos Islands, but changed their route after deciding entry fees were too high.
