President forms two new committees to deal with aftermath of 8.8-magnitude quake

President Sebastian Pinera this week enlisted a second committee to address the needs of Chileans following the Feb. 27 earthquake.

Along side the reconstruction committee will be an emergency committee to address urgent issues arising from the earthquake. With more than 200 aftershocks since the epic quake, including a 6.9-magnitude tremor which interrupted the president’s inauguration last Thursday, and a nationwide blackout Sunday night (ST, March 15, 2010), Pinera said the country still faces emergency needs.
