Earthquake causes temporary domestic beer shortage

Beverage giant CCU is using their beer brand Schneider to cover the lack of beer production in Chile after their biggest brewery in Quilicura, north of Santiago, suffered damage from the February 27 earthquake. Schneider is one of the brands that the company produces in Argentina, along with Budweiser, Heineken, Palermo, and Bieckert, among others.

The company lost around 20 million liters of beer due to breaks in their filtration and packaging areas. It will reportedly take around three months to repair the brewery.
