Earthquake Sucks Famous Waterfalls Dry

Tourism in Talca has dried up, along with the famous Siete Tazas waterfalls.  The once bountiful cascades in the National Park Radal Siete Tazas now have only a small amount of stagnant water after an underground tunnel, formed by the earthquake, redirected the course of the river.

The now dry waterfalls were one of the main tourist attractions in Talca. This past summer more than 30,000 visitors traveled to visit the waterfalls. Experts from the Ministry of Public Works are scrambling for a solution to save the attraction, which has become an important source of jobs and income for the region.
