Unemployment rate exceeds forecasts

While average quarterly unemployment rises to 6.5 percent, Los Lagos remains well below average while job occupations increase in Magallanes region. According to a July 31 report by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), the average rate of Chileans out of work has risen to 6.5 percent — approximately 540,000 people nationwide — during the April to June quarter, a slight increase on forecasts.  More...
