India’s Manushi Chhillar crowned Miss World 2017

SANYA, CHINA – Manushi Chhillar, a 21-year-old beauty from the Indian state of Haryana, has won the Miss World beauty pageant 17 years after Priyanka Chopra was crowned in 2000.

Chhillar studied in St. Thomas School in New Delhi and Bhagat Phool Singh Government Medical College for Women in Sonepat. She aims to be a cardiac surgeon and has plans of opening non-profit hospitals in rural areas.

Stephanie Hill, who is Miss England was the first runner up and Miss Mexico Andrea Meza was second runner up.

Held in Sanya City Arena, in China, Chhillar made it to the title through a total of 118 contestants.

Chhillar, who had won Femina Miss India 2017 earlier this year, also bagged the Beauty With Purpose award.

The winner of last year’s title, Puerto Rico’s Stephanie Del Valle passed on her crown to Ms Chhillar.
