SANTIAGO — Police in central Chile arrested and later released three persons for violating copyrights, seizing 952 items valued at 15 million pesos during a raid Thursday.

Special force detectives received a complaint from lawyers representing several companies affected by copyright infringement, that local commercial goods featured counterfeit images of companies such as Antenna 3D, Disney and Marvel as well as the logos from Jordan and the NBA.

As the unlawful use of these images without compensation to the companies is in breach of industrial and intellectual property laws, the specialized researchers raided at various premises in the sector of Santa Maria.

The detainees were released on the order of deputy prosecutor, citing article 26 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
